Absence due to illness / Medical

If your child is unwell and cannot attend school, you need to phone 01604 411820 and leave a message on the absence line or speak to the school office by 9:00am with the following information:

  • Name
  • Class
  • Reason for absence

If your child will be absent because of a medical appointment, please inform the school office prior to the appointment and expected time / date of return. Medical evidence may be required to enable us to authorise absences.

Your child needs to be in their classroom by 8:50am.  If they arrive after that time, please bring your child to the school office to sign them in.

Absence during term time.

School need to be informed in advance if you are planning to take your child out of school during term time.  A Leave of Absence Form needs to be completed (see link below) and returned to the school office.

Owing to changes in Government legislation, schools are no longer able to authorise absence for family holidays.  Please be aware that if you decide to take your child on holiday during term time you may be subject to a fixed penalty notice from the Northamptonshire County Council Education Inclusion Partnership Team.  The same  applies if your child is absent from school for 5 days or more without notification to the school office.

I must remind you that failure to pay will result in summons being issued for you to appear at the Magistrates court. If found guilty of the offence under Section 444(1) / 444(1A) Education Act 1996, you may receive a fine of £1000 / £2500 each parent and / or a term of imprisonment up to 3 months.

A copy of our Holiday/ Absence Request Form is also available from the school office.

Parents must ensure their child gets a full time education that meets their needs.  For more information on behaviour and attendance please click on the link below:
